Avenza Systems release PDF Maps app 2.6

Avenza PDF Maps

If you’re in need of a PDF Maps app, look no further than the latest release of PDF Maps 2.6 for iOS from Avenza Systems. Avenza, suppliers of cartography and mapping software, released the new update on August 26th to include Map Bundles, localization for German, Japanese, Chinese and Russian users and improved OpenStreetMap search results.

The app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad, offers maps worldwide and supports 5 languages, but the real beauty in this app comes with the fact that the Maps available are stored directly to your device and as such available even when no Internet connection is available. Saved as PDF documents, these can then be opened in iBooks or third party PDF apps (see our top list of PDF viewer apps here).

The app has a built in store, so users can search for and download thousands of free speciality maps including National Parks, Nautical and Marine, historic places of interest, tourist maps and many more, and even better, it’s free for personal users (commercial users will need to buy a commercial licence).

PDF Maps 1.4.8 is also available for Android users on Google Play and whilst no official plans to update this to 2.6 have been released, we’re sure it won’t be far behind!
